Double head cutting machines compared

Five models compared by blade diameter, tilting type and CNC automation level. A practical guide based on profile section, production volume and 4.0 integration.
Double head cutting machines compared

Double head cutting machines are the heart of the cutting department for manufacturers producing windows, pergolas and industrial profiles in aluminum and PVC. In this comparison we analyze the three most representative models in the range — Mammut 700 Electra, Lince 550 Electra and Puma 450 — to help you choose based on your specific use case.

Who should choose the Mammut 700 Electra

The Mammut 700 Electra is the flagship model, designed for those working on large windows, pergolas and high-section industrial profiles. With 700 mm blades, fully electronic tilting via brushless motors and a user-friendly 10" touch screen CNC with 3 motorized controlled axes, it is the choice for structured production where millimetric precision and automation are essential. The oversize function allows cutting profiles up to twice the useful cutting length. Cutting list import via USB or serial enables production management directly from the ERP system.

Who should choose the Lince 550 Electra

The Lince 550 Electra shares the same CNC architecture as the Mammut 700 Electra — 3 brushless axes with 10" touch screen, electronic tilting, cutting list import — but with 550 mm blades. The cutting capacity is lower than the Mammut, but sufficient for standard aluminum and PVC windows. It is the right choice for those seeking the same automation level at a more accessible investment, without the need to cut very large-section profiles.

Who should choose the Puma 450

The Puma 450 is the most compact model in the CNC range: 450 mm blades, electropneumatic tilting at fixed angles (22.5°-45°-90°) with CNC and cutting list import via USB. The Puma does not feature electronic tilting: angle changes are pneumatic at fixed positions. This makes it simpler to operate and more cost-effective, while maintaining 4.0 readiness. Ideal for window manufacturers and mechanical workshops processing standard profiles, tubes and small sections.

Key differences at a glance

  • Blade diameter: 700 mm (Mammut) vs 550 mm (Lince) vs 450 mm (Puma) — determines the maximum cuttable profile section.
  • Tilting: electronic with brushless motors on the Electra models (continuous angle range), electropneumatic on the Puma (fixed preset angles).
  • CNC: 10" touch screen on all three, but with 3 motorized axes on the Electra models and pneumatic axes on the Puma.
  • Oversize: available on all three models.
  • Cutting list import: USB and serial on the Electra models, USB on the Puma.
