End milling machines compared
Four models compared by shaft orientation, feed type and workable section. A practical guide based on profile size, finish quality and production volume.
End milling machines prepare profile ends at 45° and 90° with a surface finish that eliminates the need for manual rework before assembly. In this comparison we analyze the four OMC models to help you choose based on profile section, orientation preference and production volume.
Feroce: horizontal, pneumatic feed, large sections
The Feroce is the flagship horizontal end milling machine: pneumatic or manual cutter group feed, fixed angles 45°-90° with intermediate settings, cutters up to 135 mm diameter, 300 mm travel. Mist lubrication, horizontal and vertical pneumatic clamps. The choice for those working on large profiles — pergolas, curtain walls, industrial extrusions — where section size and finish quality are the priorities.
Maxima: vertical, pneumatic feed, heavy sections
The Maxima works vertically: pneumatic or manual cutter group feed, fixed angles 45°-90° with intermediate settings, 400 mm shaft travel. The vertical configuration is preferred for very heavy profiles that rest more stably horizontal on the worktop. The choice for large sections where the vertical orientation improves handling.
Tigra Metaltop: horizontal, manual feed, metal worktop
The Tigra Metaltop offers manual cutter feed with cutters up to 110 mm diameter, fixed angles 45°-90° with intermediate settings. The metal worktop increases stability during machining. The choice for medium-section profiles in workshops where end milling is a regular but not high-volume operation.
Tigra: horizontal, manual feed, entry-level
The Tigra is the most cost-effective model: manual cutter feed, fixed angles 45° and 90° with intermediate settings, cutters up to 110 mm diameter. The choice for workshops processing limited volumes where end milling is occasional but necessary.
How to choose
- Large sections, high finish quality: Feroce (horizontal, pneumatic feed).
- Very heavy profiles, better handling: Maxima (vertical, pneumatic feed).
- Medium sections, regular use: Tigra Metaltop (horizontal, metal worktop).
- Occasional use, limited budget: Tigra (horizontal, entry-level).
All four models work at fixed angles of 90° and 45° plus intermediate settings, with automatic mist lubrication. All are manufactured in Italy with premium-grade steel, CE compliant.
For pre-assembled cutter groups compatible with all four models, see the tools section.
